WR Jakeem Grant Sr. (8.7.22)
On if he feels fully acclimated to joining the Browns:
“Most definitely. I would say first and foremost, the coaching staff is really cool, really laid back and knows when to turn it on. I had CO (pass game coordinator/wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea) in Miami so it was good to see a familiar face. I know guys from other organizations when I was at Miami. Teammates welcomed me right in. Ever since then, it has been nothing but fun.”
On if familiarity between O’Shea and him has helped create opportunities for him with the Browns:
“Most definitely. When a coach is coming with us being from the same organization for a year gives me a great opportunity to play on offense and also just my skillset and what I bring to the offense.”
On if he wants to be known for being more than just a top-level returner:
“Absolutely. I always preach that I am a receiver first before a returner. I am going to continue to preach that message. I am going to continue to work on that until I get that opportunity to have that breakout season.”
On how he helps avoid injury when often moving through traffic on the field:
“Be a jitterbug. Just not get hit. I always pride myself on you can’t hit what you can’t catch. If they can’t catch me, they can’t hit me.”
On if he has ever sustained a serious injury in the return game:
“No, not in the return game. No sir.”
On if he has ever sustained a serious injury on offense:
“Offense, 2018 when I had the Achilles jury. That was just an accident. I did not get hit that play at all. It was just something that was a freak of nature that happened, and now I am all healed up.”
On if he is more comfortable playing slot or outside WR:
“I am comfortable everywhere. I have played the slot. I have played outside. Honestly, wherever Coach wants to match me up and put me against a mismatch, I am open for it. I have played a lot of outside in Miami, and I played some slot in Miami, as well. Getting a chance and just familiarized with knowing the defense inside and out from the outside and from the inside. Wherever they want to put me, I am comfortable.”
