WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (10.11.23)
Donovan, who do you expect to be at quarterback Sunday?
“I’m not sure.”
What are the challenges that go with that? Starting practice week, not who your quarterback is going to be?
“Just go throughout the week, focus on what we control as an offense, each individual player, and focus on executing our whole assignment.”
When you look at San Francisco’s defense, what stands out to them besides their 5-0 record?
“Definitely their front, definitely their linebackers. Physical team.”
I’m not sure how much you’ve actually worked with PJ (Walker), but if he were the guy that started that game, what is it about him that makes him capable there?
“He’s a great player. Very instinctual, very smart, can make very good reads as well.”
And how have you seen Dorian (Thompson-Robinson) kind of respond to the week he had kind of coming back and trying to bounce back from that?
“I think he responded well. Head down, he’s just working. Focused on getting better.”
You guys have played in some physical games already, but when you watch that San Francisco defense, do they remind you of any of the teams that you’ve already played in terms of their physicality and aggressiveness?
“They’re definitely an individual team. We played other teams, but they have a unique skill set to their team.”
Did you happen to watch the San Francisco game live on Sunday night? And if so, what were your impressions of them?
“They’re a good team. Physical. They’re playing well and a big challenge for our team.”
Donovan, because of what Deshaun (Watson) means to this team, if he’s not able to play, how do you prevent that from becoming deflating to everybody else?
“Yeah, he definitely means a lot to this team. And like I said earlier, we just focus on what we can control and focus on playing our best football on Sunday.”
I know it took some people by surprise when he didn’t play against the Ravens. Has he had the message for the team since then?
“Like I said earlier, we all are just trying to get to the next game. We’re all trying to do our best each and every week.”
Having been through a couple of quarterback uncertainties in your time here, being a receiver, does it get any easier to do your job when you’re not knowing who’s going to play Sunday?
“I really just try to stay ready, try to stay prepared. Never know what can happen.”
