Texans LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (9.19.21)
On what was working well early against the run:
“Yeah, I think everyone was kind of doing their job, not doing too much. I think at the end of the day, we have to tackle better. I felt encouraged, you can feel it in this team we got something special. We’ve got to fix some things but I know we’ll bounce back.”
On if you felt pressure when QB Tyrod Taylor went out:
“No. In our mind, the defense has to win the game every time. That’s our approach. It doesn’t really matter who is in at quarterback. Honestly I was proud of (QB) Davis (Mills), the way he came in and did his thing.”
On the run defense not being as good in the second half:
“I think some guys, including me obviously, started jumping out of the gap and just do too much.”
On getting worn down on run defense in the second half:
“I think we’ve just got to turn things up. I don’t really have a good answer for that.”
On the short week and the injuries:
“Everyone knows it’s the NFL and it’s the next man up mentality. But like I said, I truly think we’ve got something special here. We got to put this one behind us and just keep rolling.”
On QB Davis Mills and how his confidence grew:
“Yeah, absolutely. I think when he first got out there, anyone who just comes off the bench knows that you got to feel it out a little bit but once he started rolling, I was proud of him. I’m excited to see what he does and I hope (QB) Tyrod (Taylor) can bounce back but either way I’m excited.”
On how RB Nick Chubb and RB Kareem Hunt are so effective together:
“They run hard. I mean they are not going to go down on the first contact. They are not going to go down easy. We got to do better tackling.”
