T Jack Conklin (11.1.22)
On how fun it was to run multiple plays during yesterday’s game in jumbo sets, including one with eight OL on the field:
“It is a blast. We are trying to figure out a way how to have eleven (laughter). We will take where we are at right now. Anytime we can get more of those guys out there, it is just fun for our room to get more guys involved and throw some different looks at defenses.”
On T James Hudson III playing wing tight end and the Browns using OL at FB and how that helps team camaraderie and keeps OL involved:
“Definitely, and I think especially you can help these guys build confidence, too. They will come in and make an impact and just build up that confidence. I think that is great for overall team camaraderie and just building guys up.”
On the impact of last night’s win on the locker room:
“All week, we were just talking about doing the little things, just stacking little things together. If we kept doing that, then something big would happen. That was our goal going into the game was just give us a chance, and if we play well as a team, we will be able to get that win. I think that is huge having this break to get guys back healthy and to have a win is huge. We are just going to keep on trying to stack them.”
On being strong in the run game throughout a game:
“I think it is just the overall game. I say it all of the time, it is the first half and it might be 3 or 4-yard runs, but those wear on people. That tires out a defense. When you have as good of backs as we do, you start giving them bigger holes, and by the end of the game, they are going to make them pay. It is awesome to watch. We are just so lucky to have guys like (RB) Nick (Chubb) and (RB) Kareem (Hunt) back there.”
On Hudson III’s block at the goal line that contributed to a TD:
“We watched it a couple times today. That was awesome. He wrecked him. That was awesome to see him do that/ Those are the type of plays you look back on and you see the entire team just takes to that. You see just the power and the physicality of it. That is what we pride ourselves on, and that is what we want to be as a team. Speed coming from James, that was huge.”
On G Hjalte Froholdt’s performance with G Wyatt Teller out with a calf injury:
“He has done a great job. Obviously, can’t replace Wyatt, but Hjalte, he has really worked hard this offseason. He has done a great job stepping in. He does a great job of talking to me throughout the game. He knows what to do. He might be one of the strongest guys we have in the weight room, and you can see on the field. He will move people off the ball. He is doing a great job.”
