STEELERS PLAYERS

LB Mark Barron:

On if the Browns have an attitude towards the Steelers:

“I do not know. They played that way today and I like it. I like that. It is good. Intense environments, we have to thrive in.”

On meeting the Browns again in two weeks:

“We are going to go out and do what we do. I do not want to get into that. We are going to go out and do what we do.”

G David DeCastro:

On what took place at the end of the game:

“I honestly didn’t catch too much. I caught a glance of him (Browns DE Myles Garrett) swinging the helmet at him (Steelers QB Mason Rudolph) and I was trying to hold him back. So it’s just kind of a wild finish.”

On the helmet-to-helmet hits on Steelers receivers:

“The NFL has to take care of that. That’s not our job, you know what I mean? I didn’t realize the (targeting) ejection was a rule until now. So that’s good.  They have their work cut out for them in the front office.  It will be interesting to see what they do with everything that has happened.”

On what started the DE Myles Garrett and QB Mason Rudolph incident:

“I don’t know. Things got chippy at the end. He [Garrett] laid on him too long and Mason approached him. Who knows? You know what I mean? It was back-and-forth and all of a sudden, Mason’s helmet is off and getting swung at his head. I mean that’s just reckless.”

On if tension was building throughout the game:

“Honestly, not really, no. I just think it was just one of those weird plays where things kind of just set each other off and the game was over at that point.  It’s just kind of unfortunate that it had to happen, but the NFL has to take care of it.”

G Ramon Foster:

On if there are concerns with the Steelers offense:

“We just have to make it happen. We have to take advantage of a lot of things. We have to continue to grow. At this point, we were just not good enough. We had not been supporting our defense. As a whole, we just have to be better.  Everyone is going to say whatever they want about us, but we are sticking together and making it happen. We will be where we need to be at. For sure, we will get better. This is probably as humbling as it can be on a marquee-game type. Very humbling.”

On Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey’s reaction at the end of the game:

“No comment.  He has a pending case too. I do not know. We will see.”

CB Joe Haden:

On Browns DE Myles Garrett:

“Myles is a good dude, you know? I mean, I’ve never seen him act like that or do anything like that, but that’s not okay.”

On if the game was getting out of hand prior to the incident:

“No, it wasn’t getting out of hand. We were playing physical. We don’t like them, they don’t like us and it’s a rivalry. People were making hits, people were making plays.  Everybody was jacked up.  That happens all the time. But you know, I’ve never seen somebody swinging at somebody’s head.”

On the injuries the Steelers suffered throughout the game:

“It’s a rough game that we play, you know? That stuff happens you know? It is what it is. I hope my boy (WR) Diontae (Johnson) is ok.”

On if he’s ever seen anything like the incident before:

“Have you? Neither have I.  I’ve never seen anything like that, especially when he (QB Mason Rudolph) obviously doesn’t have a helmet on.  That’s our quarterback.  We talk about protecting our quarterbacks and that’s such a big emphasis.  I’ve just never seen anything like that before.”

DT Cameron Heyward:

On the end of the game:

“I do not care who is out there. We play this game. We all work for it. For someone to use a helmet as a weapon is uncalled for.”

On if he has ever seen anything like that before:

“No.”

On the actions of Browns DE Myles Garrett:

“I you know all are asking me questions, but he has to answer for that. Simple as that.”

On what sparked the confrontation at the end of the game:

“It should never get to that point.”

On football being a violent sport:

“I know we play a sport that is violent, but that dude (Steelers QB Mason Rudolph) is defenseless after that.”

On if what happened at the end of the game carries over to when the teams play each other again:

“I do not know. I know we lost the game. I know we have to play better, but that dumb stuff should not be allowed

CB Mike Hilton:

On the incident at the end of the game:

“Ending the game that way, it shouldn’t go down like that, but it did.  We have to get past it.”

On what was frustrating to Cleveland at the end of the game:

“You know, I can’t answer that. You have to ask them, but there was just some frustration and competitors going at it.”

C Maurkice Pouncey:

On if Browns DE Myles Garrett crossed a line:

“At that point, yeah, it’s bigger than football.”

On if he feels Garrett should be suspended for the rest of the season:

“Absolutely. 100%. We will see how serious the NFL is about their players.”

On if he expects to be disciplined by the NFL for his involvement:

“I mean, at this point who cares? My man (QB Mason) Rudolph got hit in the head with a helmet. So I will accept whatever penalty it is.”
