Final preseason (game) in the books, you have been kind of all over the place throughout the summer. How do you feel your body of work has led to the wrapup of the preseason and into the regular season? ?

“It has been a great time for me. Being in multiple roles, like you said playing kickoff return, punt return, kickoff coverage and then ultimately playing receiver and filling in wherever needed. So for me, it’s just taking everything with a grain of salt, doing the most of what I’m asked to do. So whether it is being a special teamer, that’s where my mind is really set on and being serviceable for our offense whenever I’m needed. It’s a long season, guys get injured, guys are going to need breathers in the game. I just want to be available, and be productive in the roles that I do.”

 

The role that you have right now, when it comes down to all the receivers that they added, there’s a lot of talent, but there’s a lot of opportunity to. So where do you see maybe your fit as they start to shape this roster up this weekend?

“For me personally, it’s more playing in my special teams role. My goal is to be an All-Pro Special Teamer for this team. I think that I have the skill set. I think I have the want to. And I think that I have the leadership capability to make my name in a different way. Ultimately I am laying the foundation for myself. Doing the lumberjack work, you know, ‘chopping wood and carrying water’. I think as I continue to perform for myself more opportunities will come.” 

 

What you have seen from what (HC) Todd Monken is bringing to this offense, where do you think this team can go offensively as you guys try to bounce back after two tough seasons?

“I think we can be one of the best offenses in the league. We have the fire power to do it. We have the quarterbacks, plural, to do it. As well as the offensive skill power to do it. With getting (RB) Quinshon (Judkins), getting (WR) KC (Concepcion), getting (WR) Denzel (Boston) and still having (WR Jerry) Jeudy and the O-line being revamped and everything. We have a group of guys that are extremely talented and Coach (Todd) Monken’s fiery and his passion and ability to call plays and correlate plays together is our biggest skill set. So having Coach Monken as the mastermind behind all these amazing chess pieces is great.”

Sort of a follow up performance there, that had to top the first touchdown with having two tonight?

“Yeah, it was cool. Found myself in the right place at the right time. Dillon (Gabriel) was able to put it on me twice and I was able to find the endzone twice. ”

 

How close were you to the third?

“I still haven’t seen the replay. I thought I caught it. I don’t know if you guys can tell me if you’ve seen it. It hit my hands super clean so I thought I caught it. I didn’t even think that it would be reviewed but it’s alright. I was happy that Ahmani (Marshall) scored, that’s my guy. ” 

 

Tell us why you are going to make this team?

“I am consistent. I come out every day, I try to just do my job and do what is best for the team, helping in whatever way I can.”

 

What do the next couple of days look like for you? Are you thinking about it, are you sitting around waiting, how do you distract yourself?

“I am going to go home, go to bed tonight, put my head on the pillow. I feel like I did everything I could. I have no regrets about how this preseason went or anything I really did. I feel good about it.”

 

Todd said that you did not think about keeping that first touchdown pass. How about tonight, did you keep either of those?

“I kept both of them. I am never not going to keep a touchdown ball. I don’t care how many I catch.” 

 

What are you going to do with them?

“I am going to frame them at some point. They will probably be at my Mentor, Ohio home.”

 

S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren

 

You went through your first preseason as an NFL rookie, how does it feel?

“Awesome. To go through this experience with the guys and getting the first dub. It feels amazing, going out there and competing with the guys and winning. It’s just a blessing.”

 

How much have you learned from the safeties in that room, (S) Grant (Delpit) and (S) Ronnie (Hickman), throughout this entire offseason?

“I learned everything from those guys. Those guys are great. Our whole room is great, coming in, they want to make me better, teach me the game more, and make sure that I’m the best player that I can be.”

 

What makes your game so unique?

“To be able to be a versatile player in the box. To play top safety, middle safety, so to be able to play both and be able to see the field from both sides, bottom and top.”

 

How did it feel ending the preseason with the win? 

“Man, it felt great. It felt amazing, I ain’t going to lie to you. This is my first NFL win. So, I’m going to take this home and just think about it all day.”
