Select Browns Players (10.19.25)

G Joel Bitonio

The last time a Browns player scored three touchdowns was (RB) Nick Chubb. What kinds of similarities do you see between (RB) Quinshon (Judkins) and (RB) Nick (Chubb)?
“They’re both big enough to carry the ball 20 to 25 times a game, they make cuts, I think they fall forward, which is – sometimes it’s not blocked great, and you pick him up and you see we got three or four yards there. And both of them have that breakaway ability, they find a little sliver and they’re down the sideline.”

How needed was this win today?

“We never lost faith. We obviously have been so frustrated with the ways things were turning out, but the guys have been working. There has not been any complaining in that sense. It was complaining and frustrating because we were losing games, but not in the people we have in the building and the people we have here. But we already talked about it. We have to find a way to stack this win. We can’t just win a game and then move onto the next one, we have to find a way to stack this.”

There was a lot of heat coming into this game on (Head) Coach (Kevin) Stefanski. How do you feel he handled the heat throughout the week, and you guys handled it throughout this game?

“You know, we had a little intensity on Monday. I think that was just frustration boiling over, but he was intense and laid out expectations, especially us on offense. I think the guys answered the bell. I’ve never lost faith in him (Head Coach Kevin Stefanski) since I’ve been here. I think this is my sixth year with him now, and when things get tough he makes a stand and he puts up in the best position possible.”

I think a lot has been made about you guys having seven different offensive line combinations in seven games. How hard is that to deal with?

“It’s a lot. We’ve tried to keep the middle three together, but we’ve had a bunch of tackle combinations this year.  Sometimes that’s the way it goes, guys get banged up and things happen. But I think the guys that stepped in today did a really solid job for us. (LT) Cam (Robinson) has been there for two games now and I think we’re starting to build a little bit of a connection. So if we can keep that on the left side, and then they can solidify the right side, hopefully (RT) Jack (Conklin) gets back. We can build on this.”

CB Tyson Campbell

It looks like you have been here all year, does it feel like that to you?

“Yeah man, I have learned a lot from my coaches and my teammates. They have definitely helped me learn fast and staying extra and meeting extra and watching the tape and practicing of course. That allows me to play fast and have fun out there competing with my brothers.”

What did you see on the pick-six and what did you think of the hit (S) Rayshawn (Jenkins) had to make him lose the ball?

“It was great, running to the ball, good things happen when you run to the ball. So I was breaking too and I saw the ball and I made sure I caught it and made sure I stayed in bounds and the rest was easy.”

The pass breakup you had on (WR Jaylen) Waddle in the endzone where you were able to turn your head, was that a coaching point all week?

“Nah, just self-evaluation. I saw that the ball was thrown earlier because I bailed the zone, so I was checking the ball and seeing it was kind of over my shoulder. Trying to play through the hands in the end.”

I saw you chase down (RB De’Von) Achane which saved a touchdown there, and you saved a touchdown in Pittsburgh chasing down the tight end, is that something you take pride in doing?

“Yeah man the play is not over until it is over. I wish that punchout in Pittsburgh, wish we had a little bit more field so it would stay in bounds, but that is definitely my mindset. The play is not over until it is over so I feel like I can still make a play, that’s what I try to do using my track speed.”

I know (S) Rayshawn (Jenkins) addressed you guys, how did that speech resonate?

“It resonated a lot, it raised the question of, ‘how good of a team can we be if we dominate.’ That was the mindset we came in, taking it one play at a time and trying to finish that play with a win. That’s the mindset we had and we all had each other’s backs and it showed today.”

S Grant Delpit

Given how you guys have struggled on special teams, to force that fumble on the return, how much did you value that much of a game changing play like that?
“I take pride in special teams, especially making plays for a coach like (Special Teams Coordinator) Bubba (Ventrone). It’s special teams, it’s not something we take lightly over here. We haven’t been as good as we wanted to be and there’s been a big emphasis on getting the ball back for our offense in all phases.”

Earlier this week you said you had forgotten what it feels like to win. How good does it feel right now?

“I remember now. It feels great.”

What was it like to watch your rookie (RB) Quinshon (Judkins) go out and get three touchdowns today?

“I think that he’s the spark that we need in this offense. He hypes the crowd up with the energy he brings. If he keeps doing that, it’s going to take us a long way.”

This is the first time all season they’ve scored more than 17 points. Is this something that you guys are planning to hang and build on?

Of course. Even though it’s not easy, when they do we have to capitalize. We have to get the ball to them and score on defense, and that’s what we did.”

S Rayshawn Jenkins

(DE) Alex Wright told us that you gave a speech to the team last night, can you tell us what your message was to the team?

“S***, it kind of just came from the heart. I talked about just winning every play individually. So looking at the lifespan of every play and there is only really two things that can happen, a win or a loss. I really just encouraged our guys to check that win column more than that ‘L’ column. I told them if we did that, we would find ourselves in a pretty good spot. Everybody played some really good complementary football, they played together today. Everybody playing some of their best football at the same time, is what I was preaching. It goes to show you that if we come out and do what we do we can be good.”

Do you normally address the team on a Saturday night?

“I mean they named me a captain and I just got here so, initially I kind of let guys do their own thing. Then when it is my time, I step up and try to give my nine years and a different type of insight or experience that they might not have.”

You had the hit on (CB Tyson) Campbell’s pick-six, what did you see on that play from your perspective and how happy are you for him to get that?

“I am extremely happy, that’s a guy that I played with in Jacksonville for three years, we came in together there. Once he settles in, everybody sees the true value to his game. He is a really good player and a good person. I’m happy to see everything playing out the way it did over here with him.”

WR Jerry Jeudy

How did you see the pass game evolve today?

“We did a good job with a lot of roll-out passes, getting (QB) Dillion (Gabriel) out of the pocket, so I feel like we did a good job running that and he did a good job with his opportunities throwing the ball to the right spot at the right time.”

Were you surprised with that ball that (QB Dillion) Gabriel put on you that got through the defenders hand and into your chest?

“Surprised? I wouldn’t say surprised, I would say that it came up on me fast and I just had to make a play.”

RB Quinshon Judkins

How did it feel out there today just to get that win?

“It felt really good for our offense to get back on track and the coaches doing everything they can to put us in the best position to go out there and execute. So it feels good to come out of here with a win.”

With the rain, did you feel like you were in your element a little bit out there?

“Any predicament puts yourself in the best position to go out there and prepare for that. During the week of practicing with wet balls and our coaches have been putting us in position to succeed.”

You guys were able, for the first time this season, score more than 17 points, is that a good foundational piece to get this offense operating the way you guys want it to?

“I think so, everybody on the offense is really good at what they do and can hold each guy accountable. Everybody does a great job and even today you see it on the film, everybody getting to those blocks and making plays on the field. So we played complementary football.

Obviously you are coming off a good game, but what is it that you are working on and what next steps are you trying to take?

“As time goes on, you play more games, this is my first year in the league, you know, so just trying to get comfortable with a lot of different things and running different schemes. Just trying to go out there and execute to the best of my ability.”

DE Alex Wright

It seemed like (S) Grant (Delpit) was all over the place today, how much were you feeling his impact even up front?
“Grant is a valuable asset to this defense but this team also. He is a leader, he plays not only verbally but also physically. You look to ‘9’ to make plays regardless of the situation, whether it is backed up or it’s in the red zone. He always finds himself around the ball, those are the types you need to have on the team. Shoutout to (S) Grant (Delpit) for sure.”

With the way you guys were able to run the ball on offense and then get after it on defense, did it feel like you were able to impose your will from the start?

“For sure. It definitely was and that was something that was said all day in the pregame. Let’s stop talking and actually put it out there for everyone to see. Just to show what actually we can do. We had a lot of ‘Yeah, this person didn’t do that’ and ‘Everything was working except for this one person’. Like what (S Rayshawn) Jenkins said last night, ‘What if everybody brought their A game at one time? Let’s just go out there and ball.’ So for that, that’s what you guys had seen. It felt like it in the third quarter, ‘Okay they are starting to give up, let’s go and put the foot on their throat and take them behind the shed.’ That’s pretty much how it felt and we did that.”
