S John Johnson III:

On how good it is to have DE Takk McKinley back:

“It was awesome. He came in with me this whole free agency class so it was good to have our team back strong. Hopefully, whatever he was dealing with is done, and he can get to work. It is good to have him out here.”

On if he has talked to McKinley yet:

“Not yet.”

On if he plans to talk to McKinley:

“Yeah, of course.”

On if McKinley’s return gives the Browns defensive a lift:

“Absolutely. Not just him, I think just from a numbers standpoint, the rosters are getting cut, guys are dropping, injuries come and go so just having numbers. Him, that spark, his game speaks for itself. He is a high-motor guy. It is definitely good to have him back out here with us.”

On Rams Head Coach Sean McVay not playing starters in the preseason previously and if he believes that was the right way to do it:

“There is more than one way to skin a cat, but that way it showed it could work just resting the starters. I think you have to have a level of preparation, and you have to trust that your guys are ready to play. You can’t really simulate a game, even in preseason you can’t really simulate it. I think there is more than one way to get ready for a season. We will see how it goes.”

On if practices with the LA Rams were as hard as the ones with the Browns now:

“Yeah, pretty much. We made sure we got our work done and made sure we were at a level where we were ready to go on game day.”

On if it has been frustrating to not have the whole starting defense together due to injuries:

“I would not say frustrating. That is the name of the game in the league. Injuries are going to happen every year – big-name guys and special teams guys. It happens. You just have to trust that the backups are ready to go, go out there and compete every day and push each other to be better. Whoever is out there on gameday will be ready.”
