S John Johnson III (12.14.22)

On his familiarity with Ravens QB Anthony Brown:

“He went to Boston College. He is a solid guy. He has a good arm. I don’t know how much they are going to put on his plate, but I know he is capable. I know he doesn’t shy away from opportunity. We don’t know if we are going to play him, but if we do, we have to be ready.”

On the challenge not knowing who will start at QB for the Ravens on Saturday, including on a short week:

“It is just like double duty. We don’t have much tape. He has some preseason tape. I think [Brown] threw the ball five times in the last game. It is just double duty preparing for both. Just trying to be ready for anything.”

On the Ravens QBs having similar skillsets and if that makes preparation for the Browns defense this week a bit easier when not knowing who will start at QB:

“A little bit. Obviously, No. 8 (Ravens QB Lamar Jackson) is the most dynamic. No. 2 (Ravens QB Tyler Huntley) I know last year kind of got jiggy on us. He made a couple of guys miss. They are all, like you said, similar body types and similar skillsets, but they all have little different details about them. We just have to prepare for all of them.”

On takeaways from facing Huntley last season:

“Like I said, if he doesn’t like what he sees, he can pull the ball down and make guys miss. He can make throws. He is very similar to No. 8. Obviously, No. 8 is the guy, but just have to be ready to go because they are all good quarterbacks.”

On if familiarity, the matchups or other factors have led to the Browns defense’s recent success against the Ravens and Jackson:

“I think it is just division games, a familiar opponent. We study harder, we lift harder and we practice harder, and it gets us ready for the game. I think it is just division opponent.”

On the mindset of the team understanding that the Browns could win out and still not be guaranteed a playoff spot:

“Just one week at a time. When you step between those white lines, you want to put your best work out there. You will forever be judged. Definitely just want to go out there and be the best version of us that we can be.”
