RB Nick Chubb:
On if it felt like he was running nearly 22 miles per hour during his 88-yard TD run at Baltimore:
“Not really. It happened so fast. Just had to get to the end zone. I did not want to get caught so I made sure I did what I had to do to get into the end zone.”
On if he knew immediately after making his cut the play would result in the 88-yard TD:
“Yeah, I did not see anyone else so I pretty much knew. It was wide open so I had a good feeling it was going to be a touchdown if I did not get caught.”
On if people typically underrate his speed:
“Yeah, I guess so. Just because I am a bigger back so they don’t really think speed and big usually go together, but I am able to open up when I get an open field and it worked out.”
On if he could tell QB Baker Mayfield ran down the field to follow him to the end zone:
“Yeah, it made sense because as soon as I turned around, he was the first person I saw. He was moving fast. I saw he ran 18 or 19 [miles per hour] so he was pretty fast.”
On his biggest improvements since last year:
“Pretty much everywhere. Just seeing, having good eyes, seeing blitzes and seeing the whole field. It is coming easier to me, but I am still figuring things out.”
T Chris Hubbard:
On how his foot held up against the Ravens:
“It held up. It held up pretty good. I did not feel anything. It felt good to be out there with my teammates and to take on AFC North football. It felt good to be out there.”
On the performance of the Browns OL against the Ravens and the confidence boost from it:
“Confidence boost is much needed. We came out there well-planned, and as a whole O line unit, we played together, we played sound and kept (QB) Baker (Mayfield) clean for the most part and we made holes open for (RB) Nick (Chubb). Nick makes things possible. When he puts that foot into the ground, he makes things go.”
On RB Nick Chubb’s 88-yard TD run:
“All I saw was I took my 3-technique down, and when Chubb went right past us and I was like, ‘Man I do not see anyone else in the back making that play.’ I saw (Ravens S) Earl (Thomas) give up. He is a great player. Chubb is fast. I do not think people notice his speed. When he took off running, I was like, ‘There is no way anybody is catching him’.
On Chubb’s ‘tough guy’ personality and how he would describe him:
“Oh yeah, he is always quiet, always working. That is what you need in a locker room. He always has his 10 toes in, and he is going to continue to do that each day in and each day out. That is what he brings to the table.”
DT Larry Ogunjobi:
On comparing the Browns now to where the team was after Week 4 last year:
“I would just say the difference in the energy and just the place we are. Right now, we are No. 1 in the division so I think that is the biggest difference. We came out with a big win this past weekend, and I feel that just the energy is different. You can tell the guys are really fully buying into what we have going on in here and know that everything we want is in front of us. We just have to keep working.”
On if this year’s Browns team is significantly different than last year’s:
“Definitely. With the players we have added and with the coaching staff and everything, it is completely different. Yes, the team is definitely different.”
On if Browns defensive players believe the team is more defense-oriented and defensively dominant team, given DT Sheldon Richardson’s comment, despite the external attention paid to the Browns offense:
“I can agree with that just in the sense that we are not really big on all of the hype and all of that kind of stuff because we just come to work every day. I think that is the biggest thing is just coming to work every day and knowing what it is we have to do. We have guys on the defensive side of the football to really make those game-changing plays. As you have seen, those guys are making those plays so the biggest thing is continuing to play to our keys, play fast and play good football.”
On if he has watched film on 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo:
“I saw him a little bit last year just with how he played up until the injury that happened. The biggest thing is he is good in the pocket, and he knows how to make his throws. He can run if he needs to. Those kind of things. It is still early so we will start working on that soon.”
LB Mack Wilson:
On his first AFC North game:
“It was pretty good. It felt something like a college rivalry when I was at Bama. It was intense, physical. I had a lot of fun going out there and playing.”
On if playing every defensive snap in the NFL is more tiring than when he did it in college:
“Not really. It is something that you signed up for. Obviously, you did not sign up for it in the National Football League, but it is a part of my job so I have to be able to produce for 69 plays so that is what I am going to do.”
On if he has had alignment mistakes in his first two starts and how to correct it:
“I have had probably a couple plays where I fitted the run the wrong way or I did not do my assignment the right way, but I try to kind of put that play behind me. I really did not have as many. I had a few missed fit runs from this past game. They had a great offensive scheme and do a lot of window dressing. I just have to do a better job of cross keying the formations and kind of anticipate some of the things that happen within that play.”
On assessing his rookie season so far:
“I feel like I have done pretty good, but I could do better. I know that for a fact. I was kind of upset, even though we won against the Ravens 40-25, I was upset because I feel like I left some plays on the field and I feel like a few plays I let my teammates down by not doing my job. That kind of stuck with me the whole plane ride back. This week, I am just trying to do a better job of preparing if I have to put more time in just to be able to go out, play fast and hold myself more accountable.”
