RB Kareem Hunt (9.20.21)

On what the team loses when WR Jarvis Landry is not available:

“We lose a big time leader, the mentality and a playmaker. I can’t wait for him to get healthy and get back out there.”

On how much of Landry’s traits rub off on the team:

“We are just going to have to keep him with us. Hopefully, he is going to be back soon. We are just going to go out there and play for him and be able to continue to keep winning.”

On if he and RB Nick Chubb are prepared to potentially have extra work with multiple WRs potentially unavailable this week:

“Whatever it takes. We have some other great receivers in there, too. Those guys can make plays. Whatever it takes to win. If they call our number more, we will be ready.”

On who he thinks could fill the emotional leadership void if Landry is unavailable:

“I do not know. There is only one Jarvis Landry. He is a heck of a leader and a heck of a teammate, and he brings it every time he gets on the field. You can’t [pick] one person.”

On QB Baker Mayfield leaving the game with an injured left shoulder but not missing a drive:

“Honestly, I was nervous. I told him, ‘Let me tackle him next time (laughter).’ It was definitely a shocker. I wanted to help him off of the field. It would have been a big moment. (QB) Case (Keenum) was getting ready, and he is a great quarterback, too. It would have been another tough loss if that would have happened, but I am surprised he came back really quickly and I am glad.”

On he and Chubb answering the call when the team needs them, including on the first drive after Mayfield returned from the left shoulder injury:

“We know what we are capable of doing running the football. We just have to come out there and make it happen when the team needs us. Definitely, we needed a touchdown and a good drive. (Head) Coach Kevin (Stefanski) does a great job of calling plays.”
