LB Sione Takitaki (10.24.22)

On if the Browns defense made strides yesterday:

“Yeah, after watching the tape, I felt like we did a great job of containing some of those superstar weapons – (Ravens QB) Lamar (Jackson) and No) 89 (Ravens TE Mark Andrews) – but it is kind of one of those things where we did a great job, but we have to do a little bit more to get that W. It is frustrating. I know we did some great things out there. We just have to find a way to finish.”

On LB Jacob Phillips sustaining a long-term pec injury:

“Any injury to the team, it is tough, especially Jacob and the injuries we already had in the linebacker room. It will definitely hurt, but we will be with him and he will be around the team. It is obviously the nature of the beast. Next man up. It is the National Football League so guys are going to step in and be ready.”

On how Phillips has responded following the injury, including after sustaining a long-term biceps injury in 2021:

“Coming off of one like last year and then this year, it can be very, very tough, but his spirits are high. Somebody like him, he is a real resilient player. It is tough to have something like this happen again, but I know he is a tough player, and he will get through this.”

On what the Browns defense did to improve in yesterday’s game:

“Our last week motto was being 100 percent committed. That is going to be the case this week again. Just watching a lot more film as a group and calling out certain motions and checks. Especially with what Baltimore does, they have so many certain packages so I felt like we did a great job of tuning in on a lot of the stuff that they do. I felt like that was great. Again, we have a tough opponent coming up ahead. We are going to have to do the same thing and even put in a lot more effort because we have to get a win.”

On LB Deion Jones:

“Deion Jones is a dynamic player. He is a proven player who has been a Pro Bowl-caliber guy. It was good for him to get out there and get his feet wet. We are excited to see as he continues to go. I think he is only going to get better from here on out. I am excited to play with him and see all of the great things that he can do on the field to help us out.”
