LB Anthony Walker (9.15.21)
On evaluating Sunday’s game against the Chiefs after watching the film:
“I thought we started off as a team playing pretty well. We beat ourselves a lot. Obviously, playing against a good team, you can’t do that. We beat ourselves. They executed, and we did not, and we lost the game.”
On if the Browns can grade the defensive performance ‘on a curve’ since the Chiefs have such a strong offense:
“No, at the end of the day, we are all at the NFL level. We have to grade ourselves at that level. We can’t water it down because obviously, you are playing against a MVP-caliber quarterback and a Super Bowl-caliber team. We want to win. To be the best, you have to beat the best. We had an opportunity, and we did not get it done. That is what we are grading ourselves on. At the end of the day, we did not execute. We had times where we did and times where we did not. The times where we did not came back to beat us at the end.”
On if the potential of returning to Arrowhead Stadium in the playoffs crossed his mind after Sunday’s game:
“Right after the game, my mind went to we have to play Houston next week and take it one week at a time.”
On QB Baker Mayfield’s message to the team after the Chiefs game:
“At the end of the day, Baker knows we all have his back. We trust in him. We believe in him. At the end of the day, he is trying to make a play. Just a bad break. Guy gets his foot tangled up and not able to get enough on the ball to throw it away, and it becomes an interception. At the end of the day, we were up 29-20 with 10:54 left. Defensively, we have to get off of the field and help our team win that game.”
On if he has any extra familiarity with the Texans due to his time with the Colts or if the Texans have too many new players and coaches for it to carry over:
“I believe the offensive coordinator is the same. I have played against Houston. I have played against Baltimore. I have played against pretty much everybody who is over there. A little bit of familiarity. It is just going to be going out there and executing our gameplan against what they do.”
