G Wyatt Teller (8.23.22)

On if he is ready for the 2022 season at this point of training camp and the preseason:

“Yes, sir. Feeling good. Kind of scary, there was the first week or week-and-a-half we had two guys on the offensive line go down. It is always tough when you see your buddies falling. We are putting it together. We showed some grittiness in the last game. Just did not pull away with it, but that is a good team, too.”

On how C Nick Harris is handling the injury during the first preseason game:

“He worked so hard to get where he was. He put on a lot of weight in the offseason. He got strong. He got big. It sucks to see it happen. You always hope that everybody does well, but there are just some guys who have earned it, and you are like, ‘I hope he really does well,’ and he was one of those guys. He is bringing the same thing that he brought every day – intention, focus and trying to get it healed. At this point in the thing, it is kind of cleaning it up and making sure it looks right. It could have been worse so you always have to count your blessings. I am excited to see how he will handle it all.”

On working with C Ethan Pocic:

“It is all a work in progress. He is a big guy, a strong base, I have been stepped on a few times like, ‘Aah!’ Nick’s feet were insane, but Po’s feet are really good – I am not coming at Poe, just jokes. Just learning how to play next to a new guy. I do not want to say that this is good, but we have time to kind of get to speed with a new center. It is not like it is in the middle of a game or the middle of the season where we had a little bit of time to kind of focus in and get better together, which is important. I wish it never happened, but if it happened, at least it was early enough in camp that we can get back to full speed.”

On how Pocic’s NFL experience can benefit the team:

“I think that experience is a lot, especially on the offensive line. The joke is always you are starting to play your best football and understand the most right when your body starts failing you. He is in a perfect place where he is making that next step to be that Day 1, Week 1 starter. I am excited to see where he goes and what he does. He is big. He is strong. He is smart. He is talented. Just kind of learn how he plays and how he calls. Like you said, he does not miss many plays or calls so he is a good player to play next to.”

On if there is any significance to people ranking G Joel Bitonio and him as the best G tandem in the NFL:

“I did not know that, but yeah that is awesome. No, I stay off of social media. It is always good to get a pat on the back, but then those are sometimes the same people that will be like, ‘Oh, he is playing crappy,’ and all of this different stuff. You kind of try to take it with a grain of salt. You respect them, ‘Thank you.’ I am never going to be mad at Pro Football Focus for saying good things about us or whatever the magazine might be or website. Just take everything with a grain of salt. I have so much to get better at. If this camp has showed me one thing, it is just because you have played at a high level for two years does not mean that you are going to come out and play at that high level forever. Not everybody is Joel Bitonio, who gets better each year. Going into Year 9 and 10 and he is an absolute stud, one of the best to play. I can learn something from him and how he takes care of his body, how he trains, what he is eating, his therapy and all of these different things I can note and jot down and kind of see how someone who – he is not old – but someone at that Year 9, Year 10-mark can take that next step again.”
