G Joel Bitonio (7.28.22)

On what is different about this year’s training camp:

“Practice field looks a little different. We have some houses out and a couple of new sections and stuff like that. It is the start of camp. Everybody is excited. Everybody is ready to go. I think we are doing a good job of ramping up. I think science says you want to take care of your body early so you can perform a little bit later. It has been stressed to us. That does not mean it is easy. We are going to go hard when we go hard, but just the smart approach to getting your body ready to play 17 games.”

On if his body will be full-go to start the year:

“Oh yeah, I am ready to roll. I feel good. I know I hit 30, but I feel good. I feel young and all of that.”

On the regeneration area added to the facility this offseason:

“The re-gen room is great. Some of the state-of-the-art stuff in there… I have not tried anything actually. I am trying to wait until my body actually needs it. That is my mindset – like, ‘Oh, I am not really beat up yet.” I have heard a lot of good stuff about cryo and they have those oxygen rooms built in and some of that stuff. They have those float beds. A good amount of stuff. I think a lot of guys had input. I am pretty sure one of the oxygen tanks (TE) David Njoku is a huge fan of. They went into that. I think as long as the players use it and show improved recovery, I think the Haslams have shown that they are not afraid to invest some money in the building.”

On how the offense is handling waiting for a potential suspension of QB Deshaun Watson:

“It has been good. We understand some decision is going to happen soon, but right now, we have just really been focused on installing the playbook – Day 1, Day 2 installs and getting the foundation for the season. I know Deshaun is taking some No. 1 reps and Jacoby has, too. They are going to be ready to roll. Both guys are professionals. Both guys have started a bunch in this league. Whatever ends up happening, I think we will be prepared, but right now, we are just trying to lay a foundation. We have not needed to get crazy into who is taking what reps and stuff like that.”

On if Head Coach Kevin Stefanski’s even-keel approach throughout his career remains the same while awaiting word of Watson’s availability:

“We control what we can control around here, and that is top-down with what they say. I think everybody wants to know what is going to happen, but for us to worry and truly be stressed about or him talk about it, there is nothing we gain from that. Right now, we are just focused on putting in the offense, putting in the defense and competing with each other to try and put the best team out there.”
