G Joel Bitonio (12.1.22)
On Froholdt’s performance starting at C:
“He did good. He didn’t even really get a week of practice – he was not feeling great. For him to come out there and play well, it was pretty impressive. He works at it. A lot of the linemen we bring in here I feel like are very hard-working guys. (Offensive line) Coach (Bill) Callahan and (assistant offensive line) Coach (Scott) Peters do a good job of coaching them up and getting them extra reps when they can. He did a good job. It is something we can definitely build on.”
On how QB Deshaun Watson’s mobility can impact the Browns OL:
“It gives us opportunities to have big plays. I think he has done that in his past where he scrambles around a little bit and can make a big throw down the field. As linemen, you have to kind of block forever. You don’t know where he is going to be sometimes, but that is part of the game. You are blocking forever with (QB) Jacoby (Brissett) or really anybody back there. He just might make a couple more plays with his legs as well.”
On if there may be additional opportunities in the run game with Watson returning:
“I hope so. It would be nice to have some six-man boxes to run against. You don’t really know what a defense’s gameplan is really going to be for us. We haven’t really seen it with Deshaun in this offense yet. I think it is going to be a feel thing. We are definitely going to feel it out a bit. I think we have a good plan, and we will kind of see how they are going to attack us, too.”
On if the transition between Brissett and Watson has been seamless thus far:
“Yeah, so far so good. We haven’t played any games yet, but practice felt really normal. Jacoby is still his usual energetic self, and he is doing a good job with the things they are asking him to do. It has been pretty good. We have a few more media people in here this week it seems like (laughter), but besides that, it has been pretty normal.”
