Eagles QB Gardner Minshew (8.21.22)

On how he feels about his performance during the game:

Feeling good man. Thought we had three really good drives, long drives, very efficient. Shoutout to the offensive lineman pushing the front. Wish we could have finished at third. There is always stuff to learn off of. Excited for that opportunity.”

On the development of the back-shoulder fades with WR Deon Cain:

It is awesome man. Me and Deon had a lot of experience on the scout team last year. He is a guy I have a ton of confidence in. Being able to do that in a game situation has been so much fun. I’m happy for him.”

On what gives him the confidence in Deon throughout games:

I think he plays the ball really low in the air. You put it in the right spot, you can trust him to hold the guy off and make the play. I am always looking for him when he is out there.”

On the speed in WR Devon Allen:

He is that fast. Everybody in the world knows that. He is the world record holder for a reason. We were all just so fired up for him to get that.”

On what he noticed from RB Kenneth Gainwell and RB Boston Scott:

Tough men. They are staying there for so many plays. Running it over and over. So, it was good to see that toughness get rewarded and for them to stick it out and get in there.”

On his  impression of C Cameron Jurgens and how good he is in the screen:

He is super athletic. He is also very smart. For a rookie to come in here and be making all the calls and doing all the things he is doing, it is super impressive. I am very excited for his future, and for him to keep getting better.”

On QB Carson Strong’s patience without getting a ton of reps:

“Everybody is used to him being the guy and being in that situation. We are all happy to see him out there and hope for him to get more reps moving forward.”

On his opinion of QB Jalen Hurts’ performance:

Jalen keeps getting better. It has been awesome for me to see how he leads guys, how he connects with people. I am very excited for what we can be as an offense with him and especially if he keeps getting better.”

On his pass that was nearly intercepted in the first half:

That was the look they gave us in practice a couple of days ago. The corner went out and this time they adjusted. That was a really good ball by them. It is a mistake I do not plan on making twice. It is a great opportunity to get better and learn from it.”

On his role with the team:

All I want to do is get better. In my mind, I have proved myself that I can play in this league. That is all that matters. I know if I continue to get better then I have a chance to have a really good career in this league. Just continue to get better, learn from the opportunities like we had today, learn from the guys around me. Very excited to be here and to be moving forward with the Eagles.”
