DT Sheldon Richardson, LB Joe Schobert and CB Greedy Williams (11.29.19)
Included below are select quotes from interviews with the following Browns players during today’s media availability:
- DT Sheldon Richardson
- LB Joe Schobert
- CB Greedy Williams
DT Sheldon Richardson:
On Steelers QB Devlin Hodges:
“Has a little more mobility to him. Same system. Just adding the extra level to their scheme a little bit that we saw from last week so that is about it.”
On paying more attention to QBs’ mobility and running ability, given Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick’s success last week:
“Yeah, a little bit. Fitzpatrick worked it a little bit last week, and we have (DT) Larry O (Ogunjobi) back so it should not be as bad as it was last week. We will see.”
On how DT Larry Ogunjobi has been since returning to the team this week:
“Focused. Locked in. Just ready to go out there and make plays.”
On the impact of Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey’s absence:
“They have a pretty solid backup – (Steelers C/G) B.J. Finney. Definitely, he is a solid backup from what I have seen on film. He knows the scheme so I will leave it at that. In the NFL, same to me.”
On the potential lift if Ogunjobi and DE Olivier Vernon return this week:
“That would be awesome. That would be awesome. We will see. That is day to day for us with OV. We will see.”
LB Joe Schobert:
On earning AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors:
“It was cool. I did not really think [about it] much. I think it was cooler for my family members or people who support me. In the grand scheme of things, I do not know – it is cool to get recognition, but it is just a weekly award.”
On if he has heard from family and friends about winning Defensive Player of the Week:
“Yeah, my dad texted me or grandma who called me to say congratulations and stuff like that. It means a lot.”
On if he feels he has made a case for to return to the Pro Bowl:
“I think I am just going to do my job, and like I said, if I do the right things, if I do what I am told to do and full confidence in my abilities, I am going to end up where I want to be at the end of the year. I think it is definitely having a good season, and we will see where that leads.”
On how Pittsburgh’s offense is different with Steelers QB Devlin Hodges starting rather than Steelers QB Mason Rudolph:
“Definitely, just a little bit different skillsets in terms of quarterback, but overall in the grand scheme of their offense, not so much. Devlin is a little bit quicker, a little bit faster out of the pocket, and if you see some of his [Samford] stuff, he is pretty good at running. If you turn on the highlight tape, he has five-10 runs right off the bat of him just making a lot of people miss. You can tell he is an athletic guy, and you can see him out there that he has a lot of confidence, and I think the players have a lot of confidence in him throwing the ball around the field.”
CB Greedy Williams:
On the Steelers WR corps without Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster:
“They are a great group so we are definitely coming out with our A game and try do what (defensive coordinator) Steve (Wilks) wants us to do. Man them up and make the quarterback make tight throws.”
On if he feels opponents are targeting him more often, particularly with CB Denzel Ward’s play:
“Yeah, they have not been too successful, but they can just keep trying. I like the competition that the teams give me, and hopefully, I can make some plays. That is my main thing is I am trying to make some plays.”
On the expected intensity and atmosphere at Pittsburgh:
“We kind of set the fire here. I know they can’t wait to get this home game just to strike back. I know it is going to be an intense game throughout the whole game.”
On how the team has responded to Head Coach Freddie Kitchen’s 1-0 mantra:
“Just practice well. Starting practice just doing all of the small things as far as running to the ball and guys not getting penalties. Things like that are making the team better, and I feel like those small things are the reasons why we are doing what we are doing.”
