DT Perrion Winfrey (8.9.22)
On his first NFL training camp thus far:
“It has been going good. I have no complaints.”
On playing next to DE Myles Garrett:
“It is crazy. Just to be able to be around a guy like that and just to see his movements and how fluid he is with his abilities, it is a blessing to be able to play with him.”
On tips he has received from Garrett:
“A lot of tips. Most of them just using my hands better and being able to strike. I would say he has given me a lot of tips, but mostly I am watching him 24/7 so that is a tip in itself.”
On what he needs to do to make sure he is getting into the DL rotation:
“Coach just tells me to be a consistent football player every day, and everything else is going to work out for itself. Just come in every day and making sure that I am doing the work that I need to do on and off the field, and the Lord will take care of the rest.”
On getting a sack on QB Deshaun Watson during the two-minute drill this week:
“Yeah, they gave me one, but I had to let go quick. Had to realize there was [$230 million] on the line. Yeah, that was cool.”
On how critical it is to make plays during training camp:
“It was cool, but I want to do it in a real game. I am not one of those guys in the world who dwells in the past. It was cool to do that, but I am trying to do that at a consistent level. Just making sure that I am doing the things that I need to do to prepare myself to continue to get sacks is what I am focused on.”
