BROWNS PLAYERS

WR Odell Beckham Jr.:

On the altercation:

“We can’t have that.  It’s dumb.  It’s going to hurt the team.  He’s going to lose a game, maybe two, you never know.  It just kind of overshadows the win that we had today, which still has a lot to improve upon.  There is a lot to take from it. Getting the W at this point, the way things have gone, we needed it.”

On whether he has ever seen anything similar to the end of this game:

“You can look back on film from years.  It’s an emotional game and I get all that.  I understand all that. I understand the rivalry and that emotions run high and all that. Obviously, we’ve seen stuff in the past – players fighting and stuff like that, but you just can’t do it. There’s no way to justify it. You just can’t do it. There’s no place in this game for it. Multiple players are going to get suspended from both teams. It’s just not in this game of football.”

On QB Baker Mayfield commenting that it almost feels like the Browns lost the game:

“It’s just not the direction we’re headed in for this organization. It just was not where we’ve been going and it does feel like we lost the game. As much as you want to put a smile on and walk out of here, there was so much in that game that there is to look at. It’s just back to the drawing board. Be 1-0 next week. That’s all we can focus on is Miami right now. Whatever consequences for our actions, we’ll take it on the chin like a man.”

RB Nick Chubb:

On reaching the 1,000-yard milestone:

“It means a lot. I have to credit my offensive line. They did a great job creating some holes for me to hit. They helped me hit 1,000 yards in 10 games. I did not do it on my own.”

On the benefit of having RB Kareem Hunt in the backfield:

“It definitely gives us an advantage because defenses do not know how to prep for it. They do not know what we are doing or what is going on so it gives us the edge on that.”

RB Kareem Hunt:

On the MAC representation in the Browns/Steelers game:

“It’s a big accomplishment for the MAC. Putting on for the MAC tonight, you know those guys (WR) Diontae Johnson and (LB) Olasunkanmi Adeniyi, those were two guys I played with, great teammates and players so I’m proud of them.”

On Toledo’s football program:

“Toledo is a growing program. It’s a good MAC school, and to me, it’s one of the best. We have  a lot of talent out there and a lot of players from the MAC in the NFL who have been making big time noise.”

On what he saw from the altercation and vibe of locker room:

“It was tough. It was tough to watch when emotions get high. A man can only take so much sometimes so you have to be able to control it and sit on it. You can’t let it hurt your team.”

On the rivalry:

“It’s definitely a rivalry. Every play somebodies talking. Everyone was giving it 100 percent out there on both sides, and that was a game we both wanted to win very badly.”

On if this will carry over to the next matchup against the Steelers:

“Oh, most definitely. It’s going to be another fight, probably not like that but it’s going to be another actual football fight.”

On Head Coach Freddie Kitchens’ message to the locker room:

“You just can’t hurt your team. You have to be smart, and sometimes you just have to bite your tongue.”

DT Larry Ogunjobi:

On the altercation:

“I saw my teammate getting jumped on and I went over to go help him out. I am not a dirty player and I am not trying to hurt anybody. I feel like if it was you and your teammate in that situation you would do the same thing. I will probably get a suspension for it, but at the same time if someone is going to come at my teammate, that’s my brother. We have been together for three years. It is not anything personal, but I am not going to let you sit there and hit my guy. That is just wrong.”

On the physicality of the game:

“In Browns vs. Steelers games, they are always physical. I don’t think there was anything extra today. This is an emotional game played by emotional men. Sometime emotions win.”

On the Browns’ performance:

“I feel that we played the entire football game. I don’t think eight seconds should take away from the win. Our defense played really well, and we came with confidence today.”

On the potential implications of the fight:

“It sucks. I probably am going to miss some time but at the end of the day, we are brothers. I feel we would all do the same thing for each other. When you see someone jumping your teammate and who is kicking your teammate, you would do the same thing, quarterback or not. When you see someone ripping off your teammate’s helmet and putting their head into the ground, you are a player.”

On the potential implications of the fight overshadowing the game:

“I don’t think it overshadowed the game. I am not going to make this into something bigger than it was. What happened, happened and emotions flared. That is not what this organization is about. We are not trying to go out there and beat players. That is not us, but once again, when you cross that line, you crossed it. No disrespecting anyone, but at the same time, I am going to protect my teammate. I know my dogs would do the same thing for me.”
