CB Martin Emerson Jr. (10.28.22)
On his reaction to learning Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase would not play this week:
“I hope he gets better. Don’t wish injury on anybody.”
On if he is disappointed he won’t have the opportunity to compete with Chase this week:
“Yeah, I kind of am because he is a great player and a great challenge for our secondary and for me, as well.”
On Bengals WRs Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins:
“Great receivers. They all play every position so they can move around. I am excited to play against those guys. They are great receivers.”
On the Bengals’ production in the passing game and Bengals QB Joe Burrow:
“Just disguising for me anyways. For our defense, disguising and giving different looks. He is a great quarterback so I feel like he can read defenses well and gets the ball out of his hands fast. He is a great player, though.”
On if he played against Burrow in college:
“Yes, sir. My freshman year I did.”
On how he played in the Mississippi State-LSU game against Burrow:
“That was my first start of my college career. I played pretty good. I remember they came in and were 6-0. We played a good first half, but the second half, they kind of took off. He played a good game. Ja’Marr Chase had like 50 yards. (Vikings CB) Cam Dantzler (Sr.) did pretty good. (Vikings WR) Justin Jefferson, he was a problem back then and still is (laughter).”
On if growing up he watched former Browns CB Joe Haden, who will retire as a Brown and be honored by the team this weekend:
“Yes, ma’am. Of course. Growing up in Florida, I was a Florida Gators fan. I have seen a lot of his college tape. He is a big influence of me playing cornerback. A lot of people didn’t really know that, but I look up to Joe Haden.”
