CB Greg Newsome II (11.17.22)
On Bills QB Josh Allen:
“He is arguably the best quarterback in the league – he is one of them. He is a great player. He is a big guy – 6’6”, 240 pounds. He can run the ball. Obviously, has one of the strongest arms ever. He is a great quarterback. He can pretty much do everything. It is definitely going to be a tough challenge for us.”
On uncertainty about where the game may be played and the weather conditions:
“Like you said, you would be lying to say you don’t think about it because at least for a secondary, I feel like depending on those conditions, if you are playing in a blizzard game, obviously you don’t have to worry about the pass as much. Still obviously they will pass the ball, but that won’t be, I would say, the focal point. When you are playing in a dome, everything is a go. You are kind of thinking of it in that way. At the end of the day, we are going to have to play regardless of whatever the conditions are. I feel like it could technically be two completely different offenses depending on the conditions.”
On if he has played in snowy games before:
“Yeah, I am from Chicago so I played high school in the snow and college games in the snow so I am not [concerned]. It is cold, but [I am not concerned].”
On if there are similarities to defending Allen and Ravens QB Lamar Jackson due to their ability in the running game:
“For sure, there are definitely similarities. Like you said, they are not the same player just because Lamar is just obviously way faster, but they have the same type of being able to break tackles, get out of the pocket threat and then looking to throw the ball after they get out of the pocket. You kind of can find similarities in their games with that aspect.”
On Bills WR Stefon Diggs:
“A savvy vet. He is just a great, great route runner. He has very deceptive speed. I feel like he can get over the top. He is a three-level guy. A lot of guys in the league aren’t three-level route runners where they run every route in the tree and they can run the short, the deep and the medium. That just separates him right there. You have to kind of play every route. There are certain guys in the league where you know maybe they are just deep threats so you are just playing for that level three, but with Diggs, he can do it all.”
