CB Greg Newsome II (1.9.24)

Are you good at that game [UNO]?

“I’m amazing.”

Are you a better corner or Uno player?

“That’s debatable. That’s just like one of those is Michael Jordan the GOAT or LeBron (James)? I think it’s debatable.”

What are your thoughts going into this game? You guys already won down in Houston, but now you got to play them again in a one-game season.

“First, just blessed and excited, man, just for the opportunity. This is my first time getting to the playoffs, so just super excited. But I mean, obviously the challenge of playing a team twice, as you can see us, just for instance, us in our division, losing to the Ravens once, beating them the second time. It’s hard to beat a team twice. So, our mentality is just to go in there. We know some things won’t go our way. That’s a game of football. But just to stay together like we’ve been the whole entire season.”

How different does this team look with CJ (Stroud) from what you guys have watched so far and just the challenge of going against them since you didn’t see him?

“I mean, a lot different. I mean, CJ is not just the best rookie quarterback, but he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the whole entire NFL. So, he presents a lot of challenges for us, but I think we’re up for the challenge.”

How important was it for you, Greg, to have that Sunday off when you guys played the Bengals?

“It was important, obviously, man, I missed it. I hate just sitting there and not playing, but it was definitely important just to get my body a little bit fresher, just to get into this final four-game stretch.”

Greg, have you had time to reflect at all, kind of where you were last year, unsure about your role and kind of where you are now going into the playoffs? You seem pretty happy.

“No, just because my role is still continuing right now. We still have a lot of football left to play. So, reflection normally comes at the end of the season, but right now, I’m just trying to, whatever my role is in playoffs, I’m just trying to do it to the best of my ability.”

What about their receiver Nico Collins? It seems like they’ve established the connection with Tank Dell still out. He’s big. The challenge going against him for you guys.

“Big guy, great at the catch point, can run a bunch of routes, but just a big target. So he’s a guy you got to be in phase with. You got to play physical with him, great receiver as well. And I think him, and C.J. (Stroud) are one of the better duos in the league for sure.”
