CB Denzel Ward (7.30.21)

CB Denzel Ward:

On the Browns defense being able to work together as a full unit during training camp:

“It is exciting seeing all of the guys out here and all of the new additions – a lot of new additions on the defensive side of the ball. It is exciting everybody getting out here, being able to play together and get used to each other.”

On his reaction when seeing DEs Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney on opposite ends of the Browns DL together:

“It is crazy. Already knowing what Myles could do, before we got Jadeveon, I was looking forward to getting [Garrett] in here, and I am glad they added [Clowney] to the roster.”

On CB Greedy Williams returning from injury and the additions of CBs Troy Hill and Greg Newsome II and developing strong communication in the Browns CB room:

“That is what it is all about – the communication. We have been getting better at that since being out here. Getting used to each other again and all of the calls together with new back end guys. Just trying to get on the same page really. That is what we are out here for during camp.”

On how much time the Browns defense needs to gel together, given the number of new players on the unit:

“I feel like we have been clicking really off of the rip. It has been good out there. A lot of communication. Guys know their jobs. Guys are in their playbooks. It is pretty much making it easy for guys to come in and play fast right away.”

On starting the season against the Chiefs:

“I like it. We are going to have to play each team whatever week we do so I am glad we get to play that team that got us in the playoff game. Looking forward to that matchup.”

On what stands out most about the Browns defense now with its new additions:

“Guys are just out there playing fast. Guys seem like they have been in their playbooks. That is the biggest thing is playing fast right now, learning and knowing what you are supposed to do and going out there and playing together.”
