Browns sign QB Jacoby Brissett (3.25.22)

BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have made the following transaction:

QB Jacoby Brissett

Brissett has appeared in 60 career games with 37 starts. He has completed 727 of 1,208 passes (60.2 percent) for 7,742 yards with 36 touchdowns. He has added 653 rushing yards and 13 scores. Originally a third-round pick by New England, Brissett has played for the Patriots (2016), Colts (2017-20) and Dolphins (2021). A product of North Carolina State, he started five games for Miami last season and finished with 1,283 passing yards and five touchdowns.

“Jacoby is a vet and with that he brings a lot of valuable experience to not just our QB room, but to our whole team. He is a smart, tough, competitor who knows the work it takes to win in this league. The backup quarterback position is one that is extremely valuable. They need to stay sharp in the meeting room and on the practice field and be ready at a moment’s notice. Jacoby is a pro and has proven to be efficient when called upon. I am excited about bringing him to our team.”
