Browns sign K Andre Szmyt and release DE Ogbo Okoronkwo

BEREA, Ohio – The Cleveland Browns have signed K Andre Szmyt (pronounced Schmidt) and terminated the contract of DE Ogbo Okoronkwo.

Szmyt (6-0, 200) is officially in his first NFL season out of Syracuse. Originally signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2023, Szmyt spent part of the 2024 season on the Browns’ practice squad and was a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks of the UFL.

Okoronkwo joined the Browns as an unrestricted free agent in 2023. He appeared in 30 games the past two seasons and recorded 52 tackles, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
