Browns sign CB Donnie Lewis Jr. to practice squad (9.7.19)

BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have signed CB Donnie Lewis Jr. to the practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team released T Paul Adams from the practice squad.

 

Lewis Jr. (6-0, 190) is a rookie cornerback out of Tulane, originally selected by the Browns in the seventh round (221st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent the entire offseason and training camp with the team, but was waived during final roster cuts. Lewis Jr. played in all four preseason games, collecting four defensive tackles and a fumble recovery on special teams. He’s a native of Baton Rouge, La.

 

Additionally, the team released CB Phillip Gaines (concussion) from injured reserve. He was placed on injured reserve on Aug. 31.
