DT Malik Jackson (11.17.21)
On the Browns’ issues in run defense last week:
“Just inconsistencies. I think we were not where we were supposed to be. I thought (defensive coordinator) Coach (Joe) Woods put us in the right positions. I thought we had a good gameplan, but guys just were not in the right spot and they kept finding those little holes and those little crevices and just getting through them.”
On how disappointing last week’s performance in run defense was, given the team’s success earlier in the season:
“It is very disappointing, especially when we go against the Bengals and do what we did against them. We have an expectation to go out there and do it again, and to go out there and give up that many rushing yards, it is embarrassing. We know we are better than that, but the only thing we can do is just get better and get better for this next week.”
On how to fix inconsistency 11 games into a season:
“I think guys step up. This is a job. We get paid. I think the coaches, like said earlier, are going to look at some options and giving guys more burn, just giving guys options to go out there and do their thing. I think we all need to take a look at ourselves and see what we need to do better and see what we can do better, and everybody just be a good teammate and understand it is about the team.’
On if making in-game adjustments has been a problem for the Browns this year, given DE Myles Garrett’s postgame comments:
“Myles feels a type of way, and he has a right to say what he has to say. Me personally, I think I just need to do better. That is what I am going to look at is myself and see what I need to do better in my production and see if I am going back and being where I am supposed to be when Coach Woods says it. That is what I am looking at, and that is what I am trying to take care of.”
