On if DE Myles Garrett’s game last week was one of the best individual performances he has seen from a pass rusher:
“I think so. Just disruptive. Even the plays when he did not get sacks, he was in the backfield wreaking havoc. It was like a ‘wow’ experience, and hopefully, we can get a lot more of those.”
On how the Browns secondary contributed to the sacks and performance last week:
“The gameplan, we tried to his (Bears QB Justin Fields) picture cloudy pre-snap. I think we did a good job with that. We can always be a little tighter, but I think overall, it was a good day on the back end.”
On if last week’s game was a perfect ‘building block game’ for what the defense wants to accomplish this season:
“I think so. Just look at the whole team – offense, defense and special teams – it was an all-around game. Just as a defense, you want to rush, you want to cover and you want to get off on third downs, and that is what we did. We want to take the ball away a little more. That is something we can move forward on, but like you said, it is a good starting point moving forward.”
On Vikings QB Kirk Cousins and the Vikings offense:
“He is a veteran. The thing that jumps out to me is that he has weapons around him. (Vikings WR Justin) Jefferson is a household name. (Vikings WR Adam) Thielen has been around for a minute. He is a savvy vet. We are anticipating (Vikings RB) Dalvin Cook running the ball. I would say he is top-three or top-five back in this league. It is a challenge for us this week. We just have to try and disrupt them, get guys in the way of his passing lanes and hopefully, our rush gets home. It will be a challenge.”
On Jefferson:
“He is like a complete receiver. He can run every route. He has twitch. He is real sudden. He is just a playmaker, just a full-on playmaker. He wants to make plays. He wants to be the guy. He wants the ball in his hands. I think we have to get our hands on him, challenge him at the line of scrimmage and go from there.”
