LB Anthony Walker Jr. (8.17.21)
On if he was scared his injury may be more serious when sustaining it:
“Yeah, definitely thought it something worse. Thought the worst and got the best. Definitely happy for that.”
On how he was injured:
“Foot kind of got caught in the ground in a weird way. Just got… I do not want to talk about it anymore. Happy to be back.”
On if he is back and feeling 100 percent:
“Yeah, I feel good.”
On if the NFL should reconsider the number of preseason games:
“That is not a question for me. I actually think the preseason is good. It gives the young guys the opportunity to come out and earn a job, get a fair look and get some games reps. Even the older guys, just to knock off the rust a little bit. Obviously, you do not play a game… You win the Super Bowl the first weekend or second weekend of February and you do not put on pads again until August, and you are ready to go play a game in September so you definitely want to knock off the rust. The No. 1 thing when it comes to playing live football again is tackling, angles and everything like that so getting that back under – obviously, you practice it as much as you want to on the football field, but there is nothing like real game-like speed.”
On if players have reconsidered the preseason and taken more precautions due to injuries:
“I can’t speak for everyone. For myself, I feel like I can get hurt doing anything at any moment. If I am on the football field, I am going 100 miles an hour. I treat every rep like a game rep. Like I said, you can get hurt getting out of bed in the morning. You go out there on the football field, you know what you are getting yourself into. You are trying to prepare yourself, your mind and your body to play a football game because in a couple weeks, it is live bullets and it counts. You have to put your mind and your body in that physical strain to get to that point to be ready for Week 1.”
