RB Jerome Ford (10.9.23)
Did you get a chance to watch the 49ers last night?
“Yeah, we watched them.”
What did you think of Fred Warner? What did you think of their defense and just how dominant they were overall?
“Overall, it was a great defense. Yeah, pretty much a great defense.”
You guys just played a pretty good defense and a good defensive front? Do you feel like this is the best defense that you guys have faced this season, the 49ers?
“Yeah, I think they’re one of the best defenses we’re going to face this season.”
How have you grown into this role as the lead back now that this will be your fourth game in that role?
“Just kind of taking it day-by-day and making sure my routine is on point every day and one game at a time.”
Over the bye week, they looked at offense, the run game. After a couple of struggles the last two games, where do you think you guys can make the biggest improvements in the run game?
“I think, like you said – Coach (Kevin) Stefanski, that’s probably a better question for him.”
The Baltimore game was the first game you played against Baltimore as a starter. Did that take a physical toll on you?
“Not really. It was definitely fun to be out there and compete.”
How do you feel after a week off?
“Feel pretty good. Ready to go.”
What’s it like to have Kareem (Hunt) in the building? Do you see him coming along as he kind of gets back in shape after not being anywhere during the preseason and camp?
“It’s great having Kareem. Like I said before, when Nick (Chubb) went down and he came in, he kind of added a spark back to the running back room and to the team. And Kareem, he looked like he was in pretty good shape as far as his body looked. Really good.”
Did you guys feel like, you know some runs early in that Ravens game? I know you had the long one that got called back on the hold, did you feel like there were maybe some runs there early?
“Yeah, I mean, any run they get called back is kind of frustrating, but it’s a next-play mentality. Whether it’s called back, you break it, whatever it is, it’s more game to play. So, we kind of just focus on the next one each time and we look back on it later on.”
How hard was it not having Deshaun (Watson) out there against the Ravens? And do you have any concern that today he’s inside, he wasn’t out there with you coming back from the bye, that he’s not going to be able to go on Sunday?
“We kind of put our faith in DTR (Dorian Thompson-Robinson). He’s a second-string quarterback, just like I was a second-string running back. So, when it was time for him to step up, we’re like, next man up. And we rallied behind him just like we rallied behind Deshaun.”
He (Dorian Thompson-Robinson) struggled, obviously, in that first game, but do you think if he got a second start, we’d kind of get to see a little more?
“Definitely. Yep, definitely.”
