Browns sign TE Jordan Akins and DT Maurice Hurst (3.18.23)

BEREA, Ohio — The Cleveland Browns have made the following transactions:

TE Jordan Akins

DT Maurice Hurst

Akins is entering his sixth NFL season out of Central Florida. Originally a third-round pick by the Texans in 2018, Akins has appeared in 73 games with 26 starts. He has recorded 151 career receptions for 1,755 yards and eight touchdowns. He set career high last season with 498 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Hurst is entering his fifth NFL season out of Michigan. He has appeared in 42 games with 17 starts. He has recorded 78 career tackles, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one interception. Originally drafted in the fifth round by the Raiders in 2018, Hurst has spent time with the Raiders (2018-20) and 49ers (2021-22). He missed the 2022 season after suffering a torn biceps during training camp.
